7 Apps to Have on your Phone

I am the kind of person who would use her phone for everything. If I lose my phone I pretty much lose everything, which sucks to be honest. But I like to use my phone to the maximum and use every little gadget it can give me. So I made a list of my top use apps for health or for school work which you should have:
Soy el tipo de persona que usa su celular para todo. Si pierdo mi celular, pierdo abolsumatamente todo, lo cual puede ser un poco mal, la verdad. Pero me gusta usar mi celular al máximo y aprovechar cada herramienta que me da. Hice una lista de mis aplicaciones favoritas para el colegio y para la salud:

Pacifica
I started using pacifica a few months ago and I’m still trying to get use to using it daily. But it is an amazing up to keep track of your health. Pacifica gives you the chance to put how much water you had, or how many hours of sleep you got. My favorite feature are the guided meditations, they have from small breathing exercise to a few meditations which help you sleep.

Nike+ Run club
I started using this app over a year ago I think. It has been of great help to start running. I used to hate to run and now I do it three times a week. The app allows you to choose a plan, how much time would you like to spend on and basically everything so you’ll actually get the workout done. I choose to run 5K now, which is a nice start, but hope to go on to 10K or 20K!

Tide
Tide is a great app to use if you have a hard time concentrating on things. The app uses the pomodoro technique, which consists of working in periods of 25 minutes or more and take a break in between, once you’ve done that four times you take a longer break. The app allows you to choose the amount of time which works best for you. If you leave the app in this work interval you lose your block of 25 minutes, and need to start again. I love to use it when I have to study for exams, usually when I have a long text to read, it helps me concentrate.

Swork it
SworkIt is another amazing app to workout. The app has four options: Strength, yoga, stretching and cardio, which all offer different work out according to what type of work you want. I like to use yoga in the morning to wake up my muscles and do a little bit of stretching. I also use stretching after I run since it offers standing when I can’t lay on the ground and head to toe stretching so all your muscle are cool off after working out.

MyFitnessPal

I’ve been using MyFitnessPal on and off for a few years now. It is an amazing app to keep track of your meals, workouts and water. My Fitness Pal also, allows you to put you weight and lets you know how your progress.
My Fitness Pal, tambien te deja poner tu peso y vas viendo tu proceso.

Lumosity
I need to credit my brother here. Lumosity allows you to do three games per day to work on different abilities, like memory, speed or attention. The concept of Lumosity comes from having a physical personal trainer, but instead of working the body you work the mind.

Keep

I know iPhone has its own notes app but I find Keep way better. With Keep you can connect from your phone and your computer, I like the idea of having my note in my computer as well. Keeps also allows you to share and edit notes with other gmail users, which has been pretty useful to do groceries with my mom or for school work.

What are your favorite apps to use?

How to be organized

I think one of the biggest struggle people go through in college and school is trying to stay organized and on track of everything. I know that I love to have everything organized and it has help me a lot, especially this last few years. Here are most of the things I’ve been done to stay organized.

Use an agenda
I feel like agendas need to be your best friends through high school and college. I know I don’t leave my house without when I go to university and I try to write everything they tell us, every exam and assignment. I also like to use it to keep me organized on the blog and all my doctor’s appointment.
Use your phone calendar
All my exams are in my phone calendar as well as all my doctors’ appointments. It’s just one of the easiest ways to remember since you carry your phone around all day. Also, it is better than writing down your appointments in a piece of paper that it will get lost or sometimes when you do not want to carry your agenda.
Make to do-lists
There is nothing more satisfying than crossing things off of your to-do list. I have them on sticky notes in my room where I know I will see them throughout the day. I know they are some great apps and also using your phone’s note app is a good way too.

Use sticky notes
I think my room is full of sticky notes, not only with to-do lists but with what I need to remember for specific subjects. I have my history sticky notes and my Culture sticky notes. I think the best you can do is put them somewhere where you can see them, I know mines are in my desk and on my wall behind my desk.
Plan your day
Lastly, I started doing this recently and I’ve notice how effective it is. The day before, before going to sleep I make a list of everything I plan on doing that day in a specific order. You end up being extremely productive and getting everything done.

To All the Seniors Out There

Hi! I wanted to share a few words with those who are seniors or will be seniors this years. I finish high school two months ago and this are some thoughts that have been on my mind ever since.
Seniors,
Please appreciate those little moments in school. Appreciate watching your friends laugh after you told me them about your weekend. Appreciate your spot in the school patio where you all sat and talk every single recess. Appreciate your friend stealing your food and laughing in your face. Appreciate the walk to class where you ran into someone and talk for a second. Appreciate those books and the analysis from that brilliant teacher. Appreciate the sitting in the back of the class trying to keep your eyes open but failing miserably. Appreciate the way your class burst out laughing when someone made a hilarious joke. Appreciate the way your mom or dad made you lunch for the next and how they drove you to school. Just, appreciate your last day of high school.
After two months, I keep telling myself, “Pili, why the heck did you spend your last year saying “When is this over?” or something among those lines?” I did not appreciate being a senior. I complained for months and told myself “This will finally be over” but forgot to appreciate being close with my friends, waking up every morning and seeing them by the tree discussing random things, or laughing when you saw your friend arriving too early. I feel like I should have appreciate high school a little bit more. Because yes, college is terrifying. You’ll learn to do things you didn’t even know you had to do, cooking, cleaning and yes, getting lost. I remember everyone telling me I’ll miss high school, but I don’t miss it. I don’t miss having a teacher yelled at me because I want to enjoy my frozen yogurt, or a teacher yelling at me for whispering to my friends. I do however wish I had appreciate those moments I’ve mention before. The good moments.
I don’t think I’ll ever miss high school. I think I’ll miss more being a child and having people help me out and not doing grown up things. Or being with my friend’s every day for 8 hours. I just wish I had appreciate those small moments more.
This kind of sounds messy but that is my head at the moment. And I hope seniors or even juniors can understand where I’m coming.
This is something uncommon for me, I don’t usually express my mind like this nor do I ever feel like this about school. (I hated school) but lately I just been missing my friends and this is my way of saying I miss them.

2015 Resolutions!

Hello everyone! I know I’m a Little late on this but I thought it was a little cliché to do a post about my New Year resolutions and bla bla. But since I’ve been away and had a lot of time to think  and I’ve watched a lot
of people’s new year resolutions I thought I write mine here, to share and as a reminder for myself.

1.       Take more pictures.
I know this sounds weird, but I’ve realized I don’t take enough pictures, even if it of the random thing or if they come out bad I want to take pictures. Also, the fact that I got an Fujifilm Instax I’ve been waiting to save my papers for special occasions but I’ve realized I want to use them all and just take pictures with my polaroid. Also, I’ve been going to Urban Outfitters and dying to buy a photography book to learn more.
2.       Keep writing
And by writing I mean everything, from my journal to my story. So last year was the year I actually started a story I have become truly attached and I love, I want to continue with this. I also want to continue with the blog all year, as well as most of my poems and my journal where all my thoughts are put in.
3.       Be more independent
Last year resolution was to learn how to drive, which I did. But I’m so scared of getting behind the wheel and this year I have promise myself and my family to actually practice more and go out with the car. I want to allow myself to be more independent and not have anyone driving me around.
4.       Be healthy
I’m so happy what I have reached based on my health last year. I manage to go to the gym and eat better. So, this year I want to improve this and stay on the right track. Since it is going to be such a hard and New Year I want my health to be fine.
5.       More adventures
In 2014 I spent so many days stuck at home because I felt like there was nothing out there. I wanted to do something new and I couldn’t find it. This year I want to do something crazy, I want to be able to see new things and explore more.
6.       Stay on track with school
I was in the Honor Roll and got a good grade on my International exam last year so I want this year to be the same, because of the joy and happiness I felt about achieving all this. I want my first year of college to be good and to get good grades.
7.       Save money
And with this one I go back to number 5. I want to save money to be able to do more things. I want to travel with my friends at the end of the year, and for this I need to save money.

So this are my resolutions, what are yours? What do you want for this year?

How to Survive High School

Hello lovely people! Once again school is kicking my butt. But I decided to put this in good use and help anyone struggling with school this year or next year. Maybe, you also have the IB in your school so you have to work extra hard to catch up and do work. So here are some basic tips to survive a hard year in high school:
1.  Don’t leave anything to last minute
You probably hear this all the time. Do your assignments the day they are given to you, but you must have a lot from different subjects. I learned this the hard way, in 10th grade I left everything for last minute, so I had math homework, Spanish essays and more due the following day and I had nothing done. Most essay they give you two week anticipation, so try doing it that day or that weekend. I did this in 11th grade and trying to doing now, it feels way better than leaving last minute.
2.  Use an agenda
A big advice I got from older people when I started high school was to use an agenda, some school provide you with one, if not buy one and use it! They are really helpful to remember different homework and assignments.
3.  Talk to your teachers
Teachers are really willing to help. I discover that they love it when you ask question, or arrange meetings after class. So go for it! Ask as many questions as you want, talk to them as much as you can. I guarantee most of them are willing to help, and give you a pass for late classes!
4.  Work out
Al though you might think you have no time, find a little gap in your day to work out or play a sport, it is a nice way to release your tension and stress you might have from all your classes and homework’s. I know that whenever I’m stress I get cramps and by working out they go away. So try and stay active even when loaded with work!
5.  Find time to relax
Find a time every now and then to relax in any way. Take a hot shower or relax at night watch a movie or TV. Trying to forget about school for an hour or so, and then you actually have more energy to do homework.
6.  Trying not to skip school
Try to go to school every day and only skip when is extremely necessary. This is a hard one for me but I learned about it last year. Skipping school not only gives you more homework but you are behind the class and might be stuck in a certain topic. So trying to go to school every day.
7.  Be organize
Lastly, try to be as organize as possible. So people might struggle with this, but try as hard as possible. Have an organize schedule about which days you are going to do each thing. Also, keep your working place as organize as possible, so nothing bothers you or distract you. Keep your notebooks or binders, as well, organize, separate each subject and have everything in chronological order.

I hope this is helpful for many of you! Good luck to anyone in high school or any type of school!
Love,

Pili
