Beauty is skin deep

Hi guys! Hope everyone is doing wonderful. This post will be different that my previous ones, is more deep and more personal. If I’m being honest, there is nothing that makes me more nervous that doing this, but I want, I have to, for anyone who has deal with this or is dealing, so they know they are not alone.
This post is about body image. A subject that is way too taboo this day, when it shouldn’t because it is something we all deal with.  We have all stand in the mirror and not like what we see, look at a picture and hate it, or looking down and asking ‘why me?’ I know you, who is reading this, have. I wish we could all stop and accept each other. We should stop the little and the big comments, the ‘Are you really going to eat that?’ or ‘You should work out more’ or the ‘You are so skinny!’ I can guarantee you 90% of the times people don’t appreciate, people don’t feel happy about it. I know maybe you are trying to help, but in my opinion let that person be, they already feel a certain way about it, why add it up? The fact that we have all experienced something like this and we still manage to make this comments or point out everyone flawless is what brings us down.
How many times have you heard a friend, or family member say ‘I wish I was skinner’? Yeah probably everyday of your life. How many times do you look at them and wish you could shut the up? Most times, at least I do.  I hate seeing people feel like this, feel like to be someone they have to look a certain way, can we just get over this? Over the fact that, yeah they have curves or yeah they have a smaller structure. Just stop judging others, you have been judge at least once, didn’t they bring you down? Didn’t that hurt? Why do it to other people? Why hurt them? I’m trying to understand here, understand how by calling someone ‘fat’ will make you happier. Is there any pleasure in doing so? Why don’t we invest our energy, words and minds in something better, something bigger? Why can’t we stop the ‘I wish I was skinner’ to a ‘this is who I am, and I’m happy with this’?
Have you ever call someone in their face ‘fat’? If so, did you stop and think before? Please tell me you didn’t, because if you did, they you must be really mess up. When you tell someone they are ‘fat’ regardless of how you say it or you hint about it, you should know the complexity of the word, how much a simple word, or sentence actually does to a person. If you have been call fat, then you understand. I once heard the quote “Never call a girl fat, even if you are joking. You have no idea what she will do to be the opposite” and there is nothing truer than that phrase. But I wish we could stop this. Take the word ‘fat’ out of our vocabulary, and let the person be whoever they wish to be.
It is not just being ‘fat’ the problem here, people who are ‘skinny’ or not toned get call out too. People would say ‘you are so skinny, why don’t you eat?’ As if maybe they don’t try. They can like it, but many times they are actually trying to gain weight. They try the best but they can’t and that’s their metabolism, but no, people still need to call them ‘skinny’ or make fun because they don’t have what they are looking for. Move on, if they don’t, they are not trying to please you anyways.
This post was only to bring awareness to everyone who reads this. To stop the name calling and I hope everyone struggling with body image picks something from this, mainly that you can’t please anyone, if they like you the way you are the go on, if they don’t turn around and wave goodbye, but never let them get you. But not just the people, don’t let the mirror get you or your head, because the mirror means nothing, who you are inside, what you do is 100 times more important than the mirror. The mirror is something we have to deal with, unfortunately, but now look at it and ignore it, because if you are nice to people and do what you want, then that is what life is about, not about the stupid mirror.
One last thing and is for anyone struggling with more than body image, an eating disordered, please get the help you need. You can do it, you can overcome it, and I know you can. Please don’t skip the next meal, I know is hard but try. Please don’t throw up, don’t take that pill and workout as long as you are advice too, don’t exceed yourself. I understand this is an addiction and it is hard to move on, but if you try and determine yourself, I know you can and it’s ok to ask for help if you need. Please do it before it is too late.

NEDA offers a lot of help for those willing to get as well as for family member and friends ofpeople  dealing with an Eating Disorder.

What's next?

I honestly can’t believe it is 2014. 2014 is a big year, at least for me, and I believe many of you can relate to this.
2013 was a crazy year. I have achieve a lot I’ve been wanted to achieve for many years and I can say I’m leaving this year behind proud of myself. I’ve moved on from a lot of pain and trouble than have been bothering me for a while now and I am finally setting myself free. I think 2013 was the year of setting myself free. Free from all the pain and trouble that had been dragging me for some time, I move on and became someone I think I’m proud and happy with. I hit a place in my life where I’m at peace and happy with myself, with who I am and who I have surround myself with. It was a hard year, I had to let many people go and move on, but I found new ones which I’m happier with. I also discover something I haven’t done in a long time, and that is writing. I was missing writing and after everything I think going back to the pleasure of writing was another way to aloud myself to do what I want and to feel more free. It defiantly was a big year and I’m ready to move past and start this new chapter. 2014 here I go.

2014 is in fact a huge deal and here is why. I’m turning the big 18 in a few days and this makes me nervous, happy and confuse at the same time. I’m finally grown up, I have more freedom and at the same time more responsibilities. I’m looking back at some year and realize how crazy that my childhood is sort of coming to an end. But in a way I’m relief, because I can do other stuff, stuff that I actually want and decided for myself to do. Then there is my Senior year and IB year. This quite honestly is crazier that anything else. I’m finishing high school. I’m finishing 12 years of studying, 12 years of having teacher tell you what to do, 12 years of being inside a place for 8 hours straight, 12 years of being a kid, and moving on and going to college, which another thing that freaks me out a little, but I’m ready, I want to and need it. Being a senior also involves the stress and I don’t think I’m yet mentally ready for that. Finals, IB, Colleges, grades and organizing school activities, is going to be one crazy year. School coming to an end also means is time for me to move back home to study and this is something that I’ve been putting of thinking and sort of a taboo to think around my friends. I will miss my friends a lot, but I can’t wait to see what the world has for us. Then, there is this blog. I’m ready to go on with this, to write my feelings and finally share with you, with the world, and to show you who I am. I’ve been wanted to do this for quite some time, and now I’m ready, so here I go. 2014 you are going to be a life changing year, but I’m ready to tackle you down.
Hope you all have a wonderful 2014!
Love,

Pili

December Favorites!

Hello guys! How is everyone doing? Can you believe December is over soon? Which means 2013 is almost over? That’s crazy! Anyways, here are what I've been loving this December. Enjoy!

Muscle Tee:

Like I mention before its summer where I live and is extremely hot almost 35°C everyday so I've been wearing this muscle tee all day and they are so comfortable and keep you cool and are really fashionable. I was in bit doubt about this shirt for a great amount of time, I was not sure if they look good. I made a Forever21 order and accidentally ordered a muscle tee, I immediately fell in love and now they are all I’m buying. So, if you are not sure about this, you should go for them. The exact one aren't available anymore but Forever21 and Abercrombie have similar ones, which is where I got mine.

Skull shirt:

The truth is my sister showed me this t-shirt a year ago and I looked at it like it was gross and said: noooooo and bought another one. But then I kept seeing it in WeHeartIt, Pinterest and Tumblr and I thought it was sooo cute and wanted it. I looked pretty much everywhere but nothing, and knew that if I did myself it will be horrible. I pretty much punch myself for not buying it back then. But a few weeks ago I went back to Zara and I need to buy it, so I did. And here it is. I love love love it! I was also scare it might be too much, but I had no problem and received a lot of complements. I couldn’t find it in any other Zara store, but I found it on ebay.

Shorts:

I love wearing shorts because they are not only comfortable but also really chick. Here are three which I have been obsessing over this month:

Green short:

My mom and sister got me this shorts as a surprise and I thought they were really cute. I actually recently started wearing them because I thought they were a little formal but turns out they are ok for a day in the pool or to go to the mall. They are from Mango in Paraguay, but I’m sure you can find similar ones in Forever21 or Urban Outfitters.

Lace short:

I think I’m obsessed with lace shorts. I love them all in all colors. I have one in white and my sister has in black, I actually wanted this in black but was not able to find them so I got this pink ones. They are really formal and chick, so I really recommend them. This are from Forever21 and they still have them!

Printed shorts:

It took me a while to be convince about this shorts since I ordered them online, once they got home I loved them because they were extremely comfortable. I wear it basically every day, and I highly recommend them because of how comfortable and cute they are. Forever21 still has them, take a look!

Platform:

I’m really short (1.60 m.) and platform have been all I’ve been wearing lately, making me taller as well as not over the top but fashionable, here are the two that I’ve being loving this month:

Converse

I saw this on Miley Cyrus and thought they looked bada*s and a month after I found them in the Converse store in Asuncion, so I bought them. To be honest, I wasn’t so sure about them but now they are all I’m wearing whenever I’m too lazy to wear sandals or want to look taller. They can also been worn in the winter time, which is by the time I bought them.

Sandals:

Platform sandals have been so in this past two summers, so of course I need to buy some. It took me a while to find good ones and at an affordable price and when I found this with spikes on top I went for them and it was an amazing idea. I actually bought this at a random store in Argentina but Urban Outfitters and Sofia DeGrecia (Argentina) has really similar ones.

Earrings:

I love wearing earrings but I hate wearing the big ones unless I’m going out and to be honest I haven’t wear small ones like this in years. I always loose them or end up with a horrible allergy so I rarely wear them. But I found the flower ones in a random store in Asuncion and feel in love so I bought them. Two months later my friend gave the other two as a present from forever21. I have been wearing them none stop so my ear piercings do not close, because it has happened before. You can find really similar ones in Forever21.

Necklace:

I’ve actually been obsessed with this symbol for quite some time now, and when I found the necklace I had to buy it. I love the meaning behind it and everything arrow related. It can be wore long or short and basically wear it with everything. I bought it in Argentina in a store call TodoModa but found really similar ones in Forever21 and Urban Outfitters.

Nail polish:

I only put on make-up when I’m going out not every day, but I do love love love doing my nails. They are rarely not painted and this two is what I have been enjoying this December:

Matte Top Coat:

I’ve seen matte nail polish hall over Tumblr, Pinterest and WeHeartIt and have been dying to buy some. I found one here in Argentina in Todo Moda which leaves my nails looking amazing. Opi has a Matte top coat as well, that you can check out!

Neon Nail polish:

A few months ago my friends and I had a neon party and I was dying to get my hands in neon polish but couldn’t find it anywhere, until I found it in Todo Moda and got it right away. Revlon, American Apparel and Opi also have a neon nail polish line.

Perfume:

I got this perfume a few years ago and I’m already running out of it, but I recently re-discover it and I love to put on some whenever I’m going to a big event. It is the Beauty by Calvin Klein and the smell is so sweet but not too strong. It actually smells a little bit like Jasmine which is my favorite flower and scent. You can find it in Calvin Klein.

Hair:

This is what I normally wear after I shower is the Herbal Essence after shower Touchable Smooth. It really takes away the frizz and leaves my hair so soft and takes good care of it. I love Herbal Essence and sometimes use it in the shower as well.

Book:

I follow Kelly Oxford for some time now on twitter but recently got her book Everything Is Perfect When You’re A Liar and I can’t stop laughing. This book is amazing, I’m halfway done and I’m loving it already. I highly recommend it but for teenagers or adults. The book is available in Amazon

TV series:

I can’t stop watching Breaking Bad because A. I love the story line B. I’ve been so intrigue about how drugs are deal and how people do them (note: I don’t in any way do drugs nor do I encourage people to do them) C. Jesse is way too cute. I wasn’t sure about starting this TV show because I hate Chemistry and thought it had a lot to do but after a lot of peer pressure I got myself into it and I.Can’t.Stop.

Music:

Last but not least, this is what I’ve been listening lately:

Maybe You’re Right by Miley Cyrus:

This song has been on repeat lately I don’t know if it is because I’ve deal with similar stuff or because the song is amazing, both lyrics and the sound are amazing.

White Teeth Tens by Lorde:

I’ve been loving Lorde lately. My friend showed me her song and I liked the Lana Del Rey style it had. The song is my favorite of the album and I think is fun and love the sound.

What Do I Mean by Jonas Brothers:

I’m a huge Jonas Brothers fan, I was actually heartbroken when I found out they broke up but the new album they released for Team Jonas member is amazing. I’ve love this song since they performed it their tour last July and now the studio version is 100 times better.

Cannonball by Lea Michele:

I love her voice. I’m not a big Glee fun, I have only since the first five episode but I am a Lea Michele fan, her voice is crazily amazing. The song is also really sweet, powerful and her voice is crazy.

Hope you enjoy it and all of you had a lovely December and 2013! Can’t wait to keep doing this in 2014 and have an amazing 2014!

Pili

Christmas Favorites!

Hello Sunshines! Welcome to my blog!

Christmas is one of my favorite time of the year. I love all the Christmas decoration and gathering with the family and exchanging presents! I’m from the South Hemisphere which means it is summer here! To be honest, I’m jealous of everyone in the North side, because Christmas and winter sound so much better. Anyways, here are some of my favorite things:
Iced Shaken Lemon Tea Starbucks: I’m not really a big tea fan, but ice tea is my weakness. I love ice tea and what a better way to keep yourself cool that with this delicious drink. If it is summer I highly recommend this beverage at Starbucks, because it is amazing and it actually look so Christmases, which makes me love it more.
Christmas Cookies: my friends and family keep making fun of me because everywhere I go I need to try a Christmas cookie, but let’s be honest, they are pretty much the most adorable thing on earth and extremely delicious.
Tree: I used to love decorating the tree when I was younger, then I was like naaa, and now I was dying to do it. My family tradition and mainly in Argentina is to do it December, 8th so when the day came me and my siblings decorated the tree and was so much fun!

Music: I recently had a road trip with my family and all I could put on were Christmas songs and they are all I’m singing and listening this past few weeks. Mainly my playlist is Taylor Swift Sound Of The Seasons album, and random songs here and there. My personal favorite is Taylor Swift version of Last Christmas J.
White Dress: white is one of the main Christmas colors, so I had this dress that I bought last year at a store called Rapsodia here in Argentina. I feel in love instantly, and I’ll probably wear it on Christmas Eve. I also wore it with this red Keds, which makes it even more Christmases.

Red and white nails: what a better time of the year that Christmas to rock some festive nails? ;) Wish I could do something like that in my nails, but to be honest I’m horrible at doing nails so I don’t think I can do anything like that.

Vlogmas: I love Youtubers, I’ve lately become obbessed and the vlogmas are hilarious and so good. Among my favorite are Zoella, Alfie, Marcus, Jim, and waaaay more. But I have to say I enjoy watching there videos A LOT. (Photos credit: YouTube)
