How to be an Early Bird

They say “the early bird catches the worm” and for me that is something I live by. Waking up early is hard, I know, but for an early bird like me, getting up early is really important and helps me with my productivity. If you are struggling to get up in the morning, here are some tips:

Make a list before you go to bed

Being organized is key here. I like making list to remember what I have to do the next day, once you organize all your thoughts and chores you’ll have an idea on everything you need to do. If you know what you have to do, you’ll wake up early and know what to do instead of procrastinating.

Haz una lista antes de ir a dormir

Ser organizado es clave aquí. Me gusta hacer una lista para acordarme que tengo que hacer el día siguiente. Una vez que los pensamientos y tareas están organizadas vas a tener una de lo que tenes que hacer. Si sabes que tenes que hacer, te vas a levantar y hacer las cosas en vez de distraerte.

Drink coffee

Now, I need to tell the truth: I haven't drank coffee in two weeks and half. But when I’m really tired from staying up late or because I was studying the night before, I know coffee would always save me. It always gives you energy and motivation to work.

Toma café

Tengo que decir la verdad, ahora: no tomo café hace 2 semanas y media. Pero cuando estoy muy cansada por quedarme hasta tarde o porque estuve estudiando la noche anterior, se que el café me va a ayudar. Siempre te da energía y motivación para trabajar.

Set up alarms

I’m a weird human here. I only need one alarm. Yes, I actually wake up the second my alarm rings. But, if you struggle waking up, I know many people who use this technique and actually works. Set up many alarms in case you either sleep through one or hit snooze in your sleep.

Poner una alarma

Soy una persona rara acá. Necesito solo una alarma. Sí, me despierto el segundo que mi alarma suena. Pero, si te cuesta despertarte, se que a muchas personas usan esta técnica y les sirve. Programar muchas alarmas en caso de que duermas a través de una o aprietes “posponer” estando dormido.

Put your alarm/phone far from the bed

Do you ever wake up, grab your phone and spend 20 minutes just laying in bed going through social media? I’m guilty of this. Putting your phone or alarm far from the bed would force you to get up and press stop on the annoying alarm, and once you are up, you are up and ready to start the day.

Poner tu alarma/teléfono lejos de la cama

¿Te despertas, agarras el teléfono y estas 20 minutos en tu cama mirando las redes sociales? Soy culpable de esto. Poner tu teléfono o alarma lejos de la cama te obliga a pararte y parar el molesto ruido de la alarma y una vez que estás arriba, estás arriba y listo para empezar.

Prepare your clothes/bag the night before

I’ve been doing this since I was in kindergarten. My mom always told me to prepare my clothes and bag before school, so in the morning I’m not missing my sweater or a sock and I’m ready to go faster than if I was looking for what to wear that day.

Prepara la ropa/mochila el día anterior

Hago esto desde que estoy en el jardín. Mi mamá siempre me dijo que prepare mi ropa y mochila la noche antes de ir al colegio. Así a la mañana no me falta un sweater o una media y estoy lista para irme rápido.

Have a good breakfast

Sometimes you need some food motivation to get out of bed. Prepare a nice breakfast the day before so when you are up, you are excited to eat your breakfast.

Come un buen desayuno

Aveces, uno necesita una comida motivacional para salir de la cama. Prepara algo rico desayuno el día anterior, así cuando te levantes estas emocionado por desatinar.

Everything is fine, we are in Prague

In case you didn't know I love traveling. I literally adore traveling, if could live traveling, I will the happiest human ever. Last year I had the chance to go to World Youth Day in Krakow, and of course if I was in Europe we were going to explore more of the continent. Now, I want to share with you my experiences in all of this countries and cities.

Por si no sabían, me encanta viajar. Literalmente adoro viajar. Si pudiese vivir viajando sería el ser humano más feliz del planeta. El año pasado, tuve la oportunidad de ir a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud en Cracovia y por supuesto si ya estaba en Europa íbamos a explorar más del continente. Ahora, quiero compartir con ustedes mi experiencia en estos países y ciudades.

The first stop was Prague, Czech Republic. I have never heard much about this town except for the fact that Franz Kafka had live there (I’m a nerd ok). So when I got there I had no idea what to expect. In no way did I expect to watch all the bags go by and everyone get theirs while I just stood there, sending snaps joking how my bag was missing. Yes, I jinxed it. So, there I was, first time in Europe with only a small bag with a pair of loose pants, leggings and a thin sweatshirt in a country where few people spoke English.

La primera parada fue Praga, República Checa. Nunca escuche mucho sobre está ciudad excepto que Franz Kafka vivió acá (si si, soy una nerd). Entonces cuando llegue ahí no tenia idea que esperar. De ninguna manera pensaba que iba a estar mirando cómo pasaban las valijas y todos agarraban la suya mientras yo me paraba ahí, y mandaba snaps haciendo chiste de que como la mía se había perdido. Entonces, ahí estaba por primera vez en Europa con una bolso pequeño con un par de pantalones sueltos, unas calzas y una remera en un país donde pocos eran los que hablaban inglés.

I  learned here my biggest traveling lessons: ALWAYS talk to your traveling insurance (always hire one), they know what to do and the next day your bag would magically show up (s/o: to the lovely people at American Express).

Acá fue donde aprendí la lección de viajera más importante: siempre habla con tu seguro de viaje (siempre contraten uno), saben que hacer y al día siguiente la valija va a estar mágicamente en el hotel (Gracias American Express).

I tried not to let this ruin my days in Prague (I did end up crying one night out of frustration). Once we left our stuff in the hotel (ha ha ha) we went to walk around town since  Prague is the kind of city where you just walk around, the city is beautiful and it does look like a little fairy tale. We walked around Old Town where the streets are really narrow and the buildings are old and beautiful, until we get to the Astronomical Clock, a clock installed in 1410 and every hour the figures of apostles appear in the windows and some sculptures begin to move. But I have to be honest here, it is really hard to see since there are a lot of people, so unless you are really tall, you want to arrive early.

Trate de que esto no me arruine mis días en Praga (un día terminé llorando a la noche de la frustración). Una vez que dejamos las cosas en el hotel (ha ha ha ha) fuimos a caminar por la ciudad, ya que Praga es la ciudad donde caminar es suficiente. La ciudad es linda y realmente parece de un cuento de hadas. Caminamos por la Ciudad Vieja donde las calles son angostas y los edificios antiguos y muy lindos, hasta que llegamos al Reloj Astronómico, un reloj instalado en 1410 y que en cada hora aparecen las figuras de los apóstoles en las ventas y otras esculturas se mueven. Pero si tengo que ser honesta acá, fue difícil ver ya que estaba lleno de gente, entonces salvo que seas muy alto, traten de llegar temprano.

As we continue walking we arrived to the Vltava river, which is the river that goes all along Prague. We decided to stop for a bit and sat by the river to just relax but after a while the rain got to us, and we were really far away from the hotel, so we went back to the hotel in the pouring rain. But how can you complain about rain when you are in a city this beautiful?

Continuamos caminando y llegamos al río Vltava, el río que cruza todo Praga. Paramos ahí y nos sentamos en la orilla del río para relajarnos hasta que nos agarro la lluvia y nos dimos cuenta que estábamos bastante lejos del hotel. Decidimos volver bajo la lluvia, pero ¿quién se puede quejar de la lluvia cuando estas en una ciudad como Praga?

The next day we woke up to a cloudy Prague, but we still decided to make the most of it. (My bag hadn't arrived yet but I did buy clothes). Our first stop was the Prague Castle, which is in a pretty high hike from where we were staying. As you walk you get a beautiful view of the city, so it's not that painful to walk even in the hot and humid summer days. The castle has a baroque style which I adore and if you are into architecture, you’ll love the city. Also, in the same hike you’ll find the Saint Vitus Cathedral where we saw a couple getting engaged while MANY people watch.

El día siguiente nos despertamos con Praga todavía nublado, pero igual decidimos disfrutar del día (mi valija todavía no llegaba pero me había comprado ropa). Nuestra primera parada fue el castillo de Praga, el camino hasta allí es bastante alto pero al tener la hermosa vista de la ciudad casi ni se siente. El castillo tiene un estilo barroco que me encanta y si te gusta la arquitectura está ciudad te va a encantar. Además en la misma caminata te cruzas con la Catedral de Saint Vitus, donde vimos una pareja comprometiéndose enfrente de mucha gente.

On our way back we decided to take a route where we were crossing the Charles Bridge which is the most famous bridge in Prague and is protected by three towers, one considered the most astonish gothic style building.

En la ruta de vuelta decidimos volver cruzando el Puente Carlos el cual es el más famoso de Praga y está protegido por tres torres, una de ella considerada el más sorprendente edificio de estilo gótico.

Later, we stopped at the John Lennon Wall, a wall fill with graffiti and peace inspired art, for someone who loves street art (it's coming to you really soon), I was in love. The place was packed with people writing their peace messages, and it was truly beautiful. I watched as a British girl wrote “real brits love Europe” and as people from all over the world listen to a man perform different The Beatles songs. It was truly magical.

Luego, paramos en el mural de John Lennon, una parada llena de graffiti y de arte inspirado en la paz, para alguien que ama el arte callejero (ya viene), estaba enamorada. El lugar estaba lleno de gente escribiendo mensajes de paz y es realmente lindo. Vi cómo una chica británica escribió “los verdaderos británicos aman Europa” y cómo la gente de todo el mundo escuchaban un hombre cantar canciones de los Beatles. Realmente mágico.

While some of the people in our group were tired, some of us decided to go and see the Dancing house, which is a modern piece of architecture completely different than the usual Gothic style Prague has. Someone told us we should go inside and go to the top floor where a bar is located, and I’m so happy we did. Once we were there we got a beautiful view of the town and this time we could see the Castle and the river. Truly beautiful. While there I got wifi and I found out my bag was in my hotel, so of course I ran back to get reunited with my clothes and everything.

Mientras parte de nuestro grupo estaba cansado y decidieron volver, yo elegí ir con el grupo que iba a ver la casa bailante, un edificio de arquitectura moderna que contrasta completamente con el estilo gótico de Praga. Alguien nos sugirió que subamos al piso más alto, donde hay un bar y una vista increíble de la ciudad. Desde este punto de vista podíamos ver el castillo y el río. Realmente hermoso. Mientras estaba ahí, conseguí wifi y me entere que mi valija había vuelto, por supuesto que corrí de vuelta a reencontrarme con mis cosas.

I hope you enjoy this little guide and diary about Prague. I really hope I can talk about other cities I like more and I might do a separate post about all the foods in the different countries.

Styles I love: Hailey Baldwin

I love fashion. And everyone who knows me knows that. I follow every single fashion influencer on Instagram and recently one that has caught my eye is Hailey Baldwin. Hailey makes your comfortable hoodie look perfect for a night out, and who doesn't love being comfortable and warm while out at night? I’ve been piling up hoodies in my closet since following this model in social media.

Me encanta la moda. Todos los que me conocen lo saben. Sigo a todos las influencias de la moda en Instagram y una que hace poco me llamo la atencion fue Hailey Baldwin. Hailey hace que un cómodo buzo parezca perfecto para salir a la noche y ¿a quien no le gusta estar cómoda y no pasar frío a la noche? Desde que sigo a la modelo vengo apilando buzos en mi armario.

Oversized hoodies have been a big trend lately and Hailey is clearly into it. But, again, who isn't? Once fashion has finally decided to get comfy, aren't we all into it? To add a touch of formality to the outfit, Hailey pair the hoodies with either knee high boots. But, if you want to keep it comfy you can pair with sneakers (they are also really in lately, and I am happier than ever).

Los buzos oversize han sido una gran tendencia últimamente y Hailey claramente está de acuerdo. Pero, de vuelta, ¿Quien no? Una vez que la moda decide ser cómoda, ¿No estamos todos al tanto? Para agregar un poco de formalidad al outfit, Hailey lo acompaño con unas botas hasta la rodilla. Pero si quieres mantenerlo cómodo, se puede combinar con un par de zapatillas (que últimamente también son tendencia y yo estoy más feliz que nunca).

Not only is leather a must have but so is denim! Denim shorts are the nicest and easiest go to for any summer outfit. Even if you want to keep it formal adding a denim jacket, or oversized coat like Hailey’s gives it a cool and badass look!

Welcome to To Read with Tea

Welcome! My name is Pilar, Pili for short, or Pipi, Pipa, Pi or whatever you wish! I’m a 24 year old Argentina native where I currently live and study Communication. I spent most of my time reading, writing and chilling with my cats. Because I had lived in 5 differents towns, and 3 differents country, I considered myself a multicultural child since I like to pick up something from different cultures I had contact with and add them to my personality. To add up to this odd personality, I proudly have synesthesia, a condition where I see words in colors and sometimes even music (please don’t be shy and do ask me about it) . I love traveling since I was 5 years old (when I first moved to a different town) and fashion since I was a teenager (we don’t talk about the way I dressed when I was 13).

“To Read with Tea” started by the need to express myself when I was 17 years old. It didn’t started as “To Read with Tea” but it has now become what it is as you are currently reading this. I’ve been writing since I was 13 but kept it a secret until I was 15 years old and wrote briefly on Tumblr, which is now long erase but kept in the many journals I will forever keep. I hope one day to live based on this blog, to reach out to a large audience who needs to read whatever I’m writing at that specific time of their life and to travel the world making sure I document every step.

“To Read with Tea” empezó con la idea de expresarme a los 17 años. No empezó con “To Read with Tea” pero ahora ha llegado a donde está en el momento en que estés leyendo esto. Escribo desde que tengo 13 años pero lo mantuve en secreto hasta los 15 y escribí brevemente en Tumblr, el cual fue borrado hace mucho tiempo pero todavía guardo las entradas en cuadernos. Hello kids! How is hump day treating you all? I’ve been studying non stop for my last 1st year final, which I have on Friday, wish me good luck.

¡Buenas! ¿Cómo los trata este miércoles a todos? Estuve estudiando sin parar para mi último examen de primer año, que tengo este viernes, ¡deseenme suerte!

Anyways, last Sunday in between breaks I watched the Oscar’s, which were so amazing, everything was so wonderful (even that mistake, I’m still laughing). But I also watched the Red Carpet and had my eyes glue to Instagram watching every dress and I saved my favorites (I am loving that new feature in Instagram where you can save pictures). Here is a bit of a round up of them:

Hi, hello. I don’t think that you remember me, since I haven't been in here in years. You are more than welcome to look around my posts to remember me.  But I am here now, and I am back. So, I don’t have any good reason why I didn't post, I guess I was lazy? I was tired? Or I was getting my shiz together. I was really getting out there and trying to figure out a couple of things which need to be figure out. Yeah, I’m not making much sense. I made a list to sum up my life this last few months:

Hola, hola. No creo que se acuerden de mi ya que hace años que no estoy acá. Están más que bienvenidos a mirar otros posts para acordarse quién soy. Pero estoy acá, ahora y he vuelto. No tengo una buena razón por la cual no subía post, ¿capaz era vagas? ¿Estaba cansada? O capaz, tenía que componer. Estaba allá afuera y tratando de descifrar algunas cosas que debían ser descifradas. Si, ya se, no tiene mucho sentido. Hice una lista para resumir mi vida estos últimos meses:

1. I am driving now. Yes, Pili is finally getting out there and goes to school on her own, she buys her own donuts and she gets her cold coffee alone.

1.  Manejo ahora. Si, PIli por fin salió y ahora va a la universidad sola, compra donas sola y va a comprar café frío sola.

2. I’ve been traveling. I went to Europe twice (I’m working on getting myself to write about this) and I went to Paraguay once (which I only wrote an extremely personal diary entry about).

2. Estuve viajando. Fui a Europa dos veces (Estoy trabajando en escribir sobre esto) y fui a Paraguay una vez (solo escribí una entrada extremadamente personal para mi diario).

3. I became one of those obsessively healthy people. Nah, I’m kidding. But I started running, going back to spinning classes again and I saw a nutritionist to eat healthier. So, maybe I am a healthier person.

3. Me transforme en esas personas obsesionadas con la salud. Nah, mentira. Pero si empecé a correr, volví a ir a clases de spinning y fui a una nutricionista para comer sano.Entonces, capas si soy una persona sana.

4. I got a photography Instagram. I love photography so much, it has been a passion of mine for years. So I decided to share with people in my new Instagram.

4. Me hice un Instagram de fotografía. Amo la fotografía, es una pasión mía hace año. Entonces decidí compartirlo con las personas en mi nuevo Instagram.

A little catch up on my life this few months. I promise that I WILL write this year. I have so many ideas and I missed the blogging community so much. I know I say this every year, but since last year was the year to get my life together, I now promise to blog more, I promise to be here more often.

Un pequeño resumen de mi  vida estos meses. Prometo que este año voy a escribir. Tengo tantas ideas y extraño tanto la comunidad de bloggers. Sé que digo esto todos los años, pero como el año pasado fue el año de descifrar mi vida este año prometo subir mas cosas al blog, prometo estar acá más seguido.
